Memorization for April

Memorization: Letters of the Hebrew Alphabet







 

Apprentice....April

Apprentice:


Join me and let’s gain some knowledge by doing the following:
REQUIRED:
Read this short (with lots of pictures :) ) ebook about Hebrew http://www.ancient-hebrew.org/iah/iah.htm
 
Watch the following link, parts 1 to 4. You may continue watching the rest if it is interesting to you..of course: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dk_m5z0mKzo
 
Pick a Hebrew letter and teach us about it: how to pronouce it, it's pictoral symbol and meaning, important words associated with that letter, its numerical value, etc. Please sign up for a letter! You may prepare a presentation about your letter, a skit about your letter or an oral report about your letter
 
Look online for translators to do the following:
 
Translate your first name into Hebrew...bring this to class with you.
 
Translate your favorite Bible scripture into Hebrew...bring,this to class with you.
Come to class prepared with a question of something you didn’t understand or something you are curious about and want to ask others

Report to your parent or mentor about how you are doing on your math goals for this year.

AND do one (or more) of the following:

Read more or watch about the Hebrew Alphabet from the library or online. Please share with us in class what you learned

Create a visual presentation or artwork to help you remember the Hebrew Alphabet. Share your creation with us during class

Read The Chosen. Share with us what you learned about Hebrew and math from reading this book

Can math help you grow closer to God? As you learn about Hebrew write down any thoughts you have about the Lord. Record these thoughts in your reflection journal. Apply one of the thoughts in your life by acting upon the thought. Record any further thoughts or feelins after your action. Share in class your experience.

 

Journeyman for April

Journeyman: ..we will be going on a hike. Please bring hiking shoes and a notebook with you to class

REQUIRED:
Take your knowledge to understanding by:

Reading Genesis 2: 1-3 Look up any words you don’t know.Pick a word that you think is important to understanding God’s work and complete a word study on it.

Look for a current event that has to do with math or science

For this coming sabbath day observe the Sabbath and keep it holy. Prepare before hand to attend your meetings, to remember Christ, to have all in readiness to keep the day holy. Make a list of things you will do. After the sabbath compare the things you did do. How was your sabbath day observance. Did your feelings about the Sabbath change? Were your feelings towards the Lord different. Write down your thoughts in your journal. Come to class prepared to share in some way...visual, presentation, writing, words the things you learned.
 
Come to class prepared with a question regarding the sabbath day or Genesis 2:1-3

AND do one of the following:

Read The Chosen by Chaim Potok and give us a short oral book report during class.What was your favorite part?How did your understanding of Hebrew and Jewish culture increase by reading this book?Did you enjoy the book…why or why not?Share your favorite quotes from the book.

In some creative form record your thoughts, feelings and relationship with the Lord...this could be a poem, a musical composition, a journal entry, a visual representation, etc....we will not be near a computer, so if you want to do something on the computer please send the link to everyone to view prior to class.

Liken our study of Genesis to yourself. Share how you have/can come closer to the Lord through your scripture study.

Create a gratitude journal by writing, drawing, or taking pictures of the creations of God around you that you are grateful for.

Bring an object, picture, own creation, etc. that reminds you of God's love for you. Share with the class your object and why.

Research how different cultures...especially Jews... worship on the sabbath day.

Read from religious texts or talks how your religion encourages you to keep the sabbath day holy. Share with the class what you learn.

 

Master Class....April

Master: Baseball game and Book Discussion Pot Luck Thursday 6:00...meet at Johnsons.....Families of those who read the book Invited!

Do All of the following:
Take your understanding to becoming by reading Look for truths that can be applied to your life right now. Write these truths down in your notebook and share them with us during the book discussion.

How will you apply what you learned into your life?

What principle did you learned from reading this book? How you can change by living this principle?

Do some additional research online or at the library into Chaim Potok's life. Share what you learn with us at class.
Complete a character study on Danny or Reuben. Which character are you more like?
